This time in life right now is very scary, this virus is nothing that no one has ever seen or dealt with before. As previous with other viruses there’s usually a vaccine or a cure to stop the spreading but this one is very different from that. “There is no known treatment or vaccine, and little is known about this particular virus so far. It seems to be more lethal than the flu, but the numbers are still uncertain. And it hits the elderly and those with underlying conditions — not just those with respiratory diseases — particularly hard” (New York Times, 2020). It also sucks because everyone has so much different information about this virus. It’s like one day you hear something and then the next day it’s completely different. Nobody knows when this virus is going to stop or even slow down and I think that is the scariest part about it.

Hence this pandemic that is occuring right now, I personally think that a lot of things are going to change all around the world. The main problem that I think is going to be different forever or at least till they find a cure is social interactions and the ability to attend places with a lot of people. I also think that wearing masks is going to be the new normal for a while. “The C.D.C. has recommended that all Americans wear cloth masks if they go out in public. This is a shift in federal guidance reflecting new concerns that the coronavirus is being spread by infected people who have no symptoms” (New York Times, 2020).

I think that once business and other places start to open, the capacity of the people allowed in is going to be lowered by a lot. For example, when it comes to big sporting events, I think there will have to be a couple empty seats between each person/family. Even in regular stores like Target, grocery store’s, hair salons, nail salons, etc. you will have to keep the distance of 6 feet and even continue to wear masks. I think that is going to be a little hard for some people because not everyone has the ability to get masks. I feel so bad for elderly people because most of them don’t even step foot out of their house and that is so sad that they can’t continue their everyday lives because of this virus.

Another big change is the economy. That will affect every single person in some way and honestly I think it already has. So many business and people jobs were taken away from them and no money is being made. “The stock market has sunk a quarter from its peak last month, wiping out three years of gains. Last week, meanwhile, brought news that a record 3.28 million Americans applied for unemployment benefits, the highest number ever recorded” (Miller, 2020). Even for small businesses, they will go through the most struggle to keep being able to pay their employees and most might never even open back up again. “Small businesses will especially struggle to keep staff on the payroll as their revenue slumps” (Miller, 2020).

Before this coronavirus, I worked at a  small family owned business gym that was not cooperate. Before we closed we had a meeting and basically they said that with being closed for so long, the gym might close for good because they will not be making the money they need to stay open. I think it’s horrible that people have to go through this and there’s nothing anyone can do. There is going to be so many changes in this world and we are all just going to have to go with it and make the best out of it. I hope everything stop soon and maybe a somewhat of a normal life can come back into play again.
