August 8, 2018, was one of the great moments in my life. It started at 6 am with me getting in the shower to get ready for school. After the shower, I ate breakfast and head out to school. As I’m arriving at school I saw my best friend Kevin screaming toward me saying “ Today is big boy let’s get the money at Monmouth County Championship”. Monmouth County is one of the biggest track meets each year. When I arrived at my first class all I thought about was the meet and that I needed to get out the blocks in able for me to win the 100 meters cause it’s going to be competitive. As the clock went by it was time to get on the bus and head to the meet. When the bus got there I got out the and immediately my stomach had the butterfly because I was a little nervous. After seating down I became to think and plan out how I’m going this race. After seating down for an hour they finally decided to call the boys 100 meters to come up to check in. After checking in, I decided to start warming up and get ready for the race. Once I was done warming up they called the boys 100 meters to the starting line to start the race. As I’m walked toward the starting line I was very confident due to the fact that I been working my a** off at practice toward this day. When I stepped up to the line I put myself in a tunnel vision mode to help me focus on doing what I have to do to win. The official grabbed the gun and said “ ready, set and then shot the gun to start the race. After the gun went off my reaction was very fast and I came out of the block strong. As I’m going through my drive phase I felt very powerful and smooth. When I got to 60 meters I realize that I was winning the race and now all I have to do is finish strong which I did. After crossing the line I looked back and saw that I won the race. When the race was all over I went to bleacher a sat down waiting for the result. When the result came in I saw that I had run a 10.8 second which was my personal best for the new. I was very proud of myself due to the fact that it was my first 100 meters of the new year and that I executed it well.

Interesting story, Wilby. Congratulations on your accomplishment. The way you tell your story helps move us through the details very well.
“As I’m going through my drive phase I felt very powerful and smooth.”
I highlighted this sentence because of how direct and clean it is.
Great pictures, too. The determination and focus on your face are worth a thousand words.

Wilby great story, I really enjoyed reading it.
I know the feeling of sitting in class waiting for the big game or meet and all you can do is just look at the clock every second hoping its time for the game or meet. It almost feels like the day is in slow motion when this happens.
Congrats on the win.
