I was assigned to interview five people about the word “economy” or anything relating to it in any type of way. Out of all the options I was given, I decided to focus on just one… college debt. I chose this because no matter what, everyone’s answer is somewhat the same, we all hate college debt. So, I ask five people the same question, “Do you think the amount of debt accrued during a student’s time at College is reasonable after they graduate.”

The first person I interviewed was a close friend of mine Bob, and no, this name isn’t made up, his name is actually Bob. I asked him this question and he responded. “No, I believe that education should be more reasonably priced considering the largely disproportionate salaries associated with the occupations many students choose to study for during their time at college.”

My close friend Chelsea said, “No I’m for free higher education. Being educated shouldn’t have anything to do with what family you were born into and everyone should have equal access.”

Liz, my friend from home said, “I think the amount of money you owe after school is stupid, I don’t think college should be as much as it is. Obviously, it should cost something but $30,000 a year just to live the rest of your life stressing about paying it off is ridiculous, they should make it like $5,000 a semester, they’d still make a shit ton of money.”

Sophia, an RTF Major here at Rowan said something different from the rest. Her response was, “I do think it’s reasonable, you’re here to learn and to experience life. If you’re smart with your decisions you can land a job that’s paying well enough for you to pay off your loans, yet still live a stable and comfortable life. Just depends on you, and if you stay focused through it all.”

The last person I interviewed didn’t really care for what I had to say. John, a communication major said, “Sure I guess” Which didn’t really answer the question, but he didn’t want to say anything else.

Overall, I agree with everyone’s answer’s, besides John’s. I do find Sophia’s the most interesting because usually everyone will agree it’s not reasonable and that student debt shouldn’t be such an issue after graduation. However, she is right, if you land a good job, and stay focused you can live a stable life while paying off college stress free.
