Injustices can be found in all groups of minorities. One can divide this by race, gender, social class and more subgroups. In these, one group is favored more and seen as superior to the other. One group that doesn’t get equal treatment and I identify with, are women.

In 2020, the idea of a woman has changed and evolved over the years, with our rights, who identifies as one and more women coming into power. Even though we have progressed as a society, there are still many injustices against women.

To this day, it is still proven that there are wage gaps throughout many occupations between men and women. Simply because of one’s gender, we get paid less? It’s unfair and there are no logical reasons for this injustice because women are fully capable of doing anything a man can do.

Another aspect women have to face are the pressures of beauty standards. Not to say that men do not go through similar situations, but women have much more pressure of looking a certain way, by the Euro-centric  beauty standards.

I’m proud to say that as a society we have taken the right step forward to a more equal future between men and women, but we have a long way to go. When there’s no account for wage gap anywhere and women of all colors, shapes, and sizes are fully accepted, then I’ll say we have reached equality. Until then, equality is a work in progress.
