Soccer has always been part of who I am. Like many of us, I began playing soccer at a young age. I started playing when I was just three years old. At the beginning of my soccer career, I played for fun. It was a way for me to get away from everything while meeting new friends. I kicked the ball every day growing up, unknowing that one day soccer would turn me into a leader.
My first big soccer event that I kinda watched was the 2006 FIFA World Cup, I watched a few games and I found it to be really amazing. After watching more games over the years with my dad, he realized that I had a passion for this game so he started to teach me some tricks and how to dribble the ball which made the game way more fun than just watching it. Since I was learning how to play well I started to love the game more than ever.
As I got older I decided to join a new local team with my two best friends, I started to get better and better with the practices we had to go to, and the best part was that my two really close friends were playing alongside me.
Soccer has transformed me into a leader on and off the field, and I have developed greater self-confidence. As I spent more and more time playing, I recognized what a tremendous outlet it was for me, whenever I am stressed by an exceptionally demanding week in school or frustrated with listening to petty gossip, I put all of my energy and passion into this amazing sport that I love.
Over the years soccer has taught me teamwork, discipline, and the concept of working hard.
